What you'll need
- Your full name, to locate your record
- Likely an email address for confirmation
- Possibly identity verification (PeopleConnect sites sometimes ask for this)
Steps
- Open the Instant Checkmate Suppression Center
Go to instantcheckmate.com/opt-out/ to load the PeopleConnect Suppression Center, and choose Start Here (or the guided mode) to begin.
- Locate the records attributed to you
Provide the identifying information the tool asks for so it can find the records listed under your name.
- Suppress the matching records
Go to Suppression Settings and confirm suppression of the public-data records that are yours. The pages are JavaScript-rendered, so follow the on-screen prompts for exact fields.
Will it come back?
Instant Checkmate states that suppressing your background report does not affect the same data at its third-party sources, and that your details may still appear in phone, address or email reports searched by those criteria — so information can resurface through other queries.
